Donna Hinds Sawyers in Recital!

Donna Hinds Sawyers was featured in a SHSU Musical Theatre Faculty Recital on Thursday, May 3, 2018. Her performances included How Could I Ever Know? from The Secret Garden and Being Alive from Company.

SBV ETX June Event 2018!

SBV East Texas June Event included a salon showcase recital of three exceptional high school students and faculty from Houston and Longview. Visiting faculty members, Donna Hinds Sawyers and Giny Gonzales, offered constructive comments on each performance. Joshua Allen, collaborative pianist and Callie Mulkey, flutist, assisted in the event.

Madison Racks Up Honors!

Madison played the role of Fiona in Hallsville’s Shrek for the academic year of 2017-2018. Madison also won First Place in the TEXOMA Region NATS 2017 Auditions for Musical Theatre and qualified for semi-finals at nationals. She was accepted in the prestigious Northwestern theatre summer program in 2017.  Madison also was awarded a Superior Rating for her UIL Solo and Ensemble piece in 2018. She can belt and sing classical and her acting skills are superb! She will be entering the University of North Carolina School of the Arts to study drama.

Carmen Lands Leading Role+!

Carmen played the role of Rosie in Bye Bye Birdie for Longview High School for the academic year of 2017-2018. Carmen also won 4th Place (as a sophomore against seniors) in TEXOMA NATS Region Musical Theatre Auditions High School Division 2018 and qualified for national prelims.

SBV ETX Recital 2017!

East Texas SBV June Event 2017 was held at the Mabee Recital Hall at ETBU. Joshua Allen was the collaborative pianist and Renee Ward played violin. The studio featured five singers with music ranging from Musical Theatre, Operetta, Pop and Contemporary Christian.

Laurie Performs with Larnelle Harris!

ETBU and SBV Instructor, Laurie Lee Cosby, performed with Grammy Winner, Larnelle Harris, at ETBU for the 2017 Summer Seniors Retreat. They sang the famous, “I’ve Just Seen Jesus” duet with back-up choir.

SUMMER WORKSHOP!!!!

Laurie Lee Cosby will be conducting a Vocal Performance Mini-Camp for singers grades 9-12, W-F June 15-17 at the First Baptist Church of Longview, Texas.  Camp hours will be 1:00-3:30 p.m. W-F followed by a capstone recital on Friday at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel. The camp costs $150 if you register by June 3 and $175 if you register by June 10.  There are no refunds after June 10.  Singers come with a song prepared to be memorized for the Friday recital. Any students who want assistance selecting and/or preparing a song can sign-up for lessons at a discount prior to the camp starting now for $35 per 30 minute lesson or $50 per 45 minute lesson.  Private Lessons can also be schedule camp week.
